How to Start CentOS 7 Server in Single User Mode.

On startup server, you need to press any key to stop the boot process at the OS image list

Select with the arrow keys which image you would like to edit and press “e”

Find the string “rbgh quiet” and change it to “init=/bin/bash”
(it is in the line containing:
“linux16 /vmlinuz-3.10.0-123.4.2.el7.x86_64 root=/dev/mapper/root-root ro rd.lvm.lv=root/root rd.lvm.lv=root/usr crashkernel=auto vconsole.keymap=us vconsole.font=latarcyrheb-sun16 rd.lvm.lv=swap01/swap rhgb quiet LANG=en_US.UTF-8 single”)

Press Ctrl + x to boot the image

Once that is loaded, run the command “mount -o remount,rw /” and you can run commands in root mode.
